The RS485 system used for Modbus communication provides a main cable (Bus or backbone), to which all the devices have to be connected with branches (also known as stubs) that are as short as possible. This distance does not include the branches (which must nevertheless be short). If on the other hand each terminal can accept only a single cable, a proper branch must be created using three auxiliary terminals for each instrument to be connected. The built-in Serial Terminal module is used to create serial port terminal sessions. Since our product allows you to parse and log serial data coming from multiple serial devices connected to the PC or even remote ones using your local or Internet connection, it can be used as a foundation for building various integration solutions based on it. The RS232 - RS422 converter is also often used in older serial devices such as older PLC's and terminal equipment.
In the process of development of serial devices there is a necessity of their communication with PC via RS232 ports. Using a repeater, the main cable is divided into different segments, each of which can be up to 700 m in length and connect 32 devices (this number includes the repeaters). A special jumper(J9) can further shorten the turn-around time to accommodate fast responding target devices. In order to avoid errors when many devices are connected, cables of the same colour should be used for all the connections to the terminals A and cables of the same colour should be used for all the connections to the terminals B of the various devices (e.g. white for A and blue for B). RS485 is specified for multi-point communicates where multiples devices have their own address on the same communication line, while RS232 is only specified for point-to-point communications. In some countries, inserting two cables into the same screw terminal is permitted. For an on, space or logic 0 state, the driver's A terminal is positive relative to the B terminal. If A is negative with respect to B, the state is binary 1. The reversed polarity (A positive with respect to B) is binary 0. The standard does not assign any logic function to the two states.
Cursor navigation may be synchronized between two parts. The cabling of the industrial communication systems (Modbus RS485) is different in some ways from the cabling used for power cabling and the electrician may experience some difficulties if he is not an expert in Modbus communication networks. The shielding may be braided (be formed by a mesh of thin conducting wires) or be a foil (consisting of a sheet of metal wound around the conductors): the two types are equivalent. With this boards, a CBL03 lines with RJ11 connectors can branch out to support an RS485 line consisting of three discrete wires. RS485 is made for serial communication with high speeds, support for long distances, and support for multiple devices (slaves). You can use them as a "response part" during communications with devices that you don't know the algorithm for working with, and automate these communications by processing events and responding to events in scripts. The maximum number of devices that can be connected to a main cable is 32, what is rs485 cable including the Master. Where can I find RS485 pinouts? Laureate RS485 boards are available in versions with dual RJ11 jacks (ordering option 2, board P/N L485) and with dual RJ485 jacks (ordering option 4, board P/N LMOD).
RJ11 jacks support half-duplex or full-duplex communications. The ability to create your own visualizers, custom protocol parsers, built-in serial terminal and extensive scripting support by all modules of our product makes it possible for you to effectively create serial device and application emulators. Both boards support the Modbus protocol and Laurel’s Custom ASCII protocol, as well as half-duplex or full-duplex RS485 communications. Set the PC to N81 for the Custom ASCII protocol, or to N82 or E81 for the Modbus RTU protocol. This exporter parses captured serial port data according to the loaded set of protocols, applies optional protocol-based filtering and Root Protocol and writes the resulting binary data into the output file. Ultimately, it can be thought of in a way that serial communication is more made for this usage as compared to the common USB and ethernet. Up to 32 slaves can be connected in the system. For example, Belden 3105A cable can be specified, but different types of cable with equivalent characteristics can be used. These characteristics include: definition of a unit load, voltage ranges, open-circuit voltages, thresholds, and transient tolerance.
